Panic ensued late on Wednesday 5th for those waiting for Eastenders and Corrie!
Allegedly a cement truck hit the telephone/internet line to part of the village. Thankfully it was repaired two days later and not the one week which was originally thought. Thanks TurkTelecom.
Building work of a more conventional nature is also happening; as you can see the former Jewellers opposite Musti Restaurant is being converted into three shop units.
Work is progressing well on the accommodation for the Turunç Hotel workers. If the hotel stays open all year we hope to see the return of year round flights as people are having to travel via Istanbul, Izmir or Antalya at the moment. Please come back TCX! Work has also started on the building of the river wall which was severely damaged in last February's floods.
Snow also appeared on the distant mountains. Turunç didn't suffer the same fate and enjoyed a couple of days in the low 20's just before the heavy rains set in!
n the early hours of the 12th (3.04am) an earthquake occurred in the Dodecanese Islands measuring 4.0 on the Richter Scale. It took two hours to travel 15km to Marmaris - at least the earth moved for a few of us that night! For the scientifically-minded, here are the statistics:
There has been a quiz in Pasha's and Wednesday is still darts night. Tuesday now sees some of the locals enjoying jacket potatoes at the Habit Bar. A good time is had by all.
